1. Do Chilean citizens need ETIAS?

✓ Yes — once ETIAS becomes operational
  • You are travelling on an eligible Chile passport
  • Your trip is a short stay of up to 90 days in any 180-day period
  • You are visiting one or more of the 30 ETIAS countries
  • You are travelling for tourism, business, transit or another permitted short-stay purpose

ETIAS is a travel authorisation for visa-exempt travellers. It is not a visa and approval does not itself guarantee entry at the border.

2. Passport rules for Chile

The ETIAS authorisation will be linked to the Chilean passport used in the application. Use that same passport for the journey.

The ETIAS authorisation will be electronically linked to the passport used in the application. If that passport expires or is replaced, a new ETIAS will normally be required.

ETIAS for travellers from Chile

  • ETIAS can cover eligible trips to multiple participating countries during its validity.
  • The 90/180-day limit still controls how long a short stay can last.
  • Dual Chilean/EU nationality can change which travel rules apply.
