3. Arriving in Cyprus

The ETIAS requirement is linked to your eligibility and travel document. The border procedure can differ depending on how and from where you arrive.

By air

Larnaca and Paphos are the main international airports of the Republic of Cyprus. Passports continue to be checked under Cypriot border procedures and are not processed through EES.

By land or rail

The island has no normal international land border into the Republic of Cyprus. Crossing arrangements across the Green Line are separate from ETIAS and should be checked for the traveller’s specific itinerary.

By sea

Sea arrivals to ports in the Republic of Cyprus are subject to Cypriot entry checks. ETIAS eligibility applies to qualifying visa-exempt travellers once the system launches.

4. Border and territory notes

Cyprus requires ETIAS but is not in Schengen and does not use EES. Travellers should not assume that Schengen border procedures or the Schengen 90/180 calculation operate identically for a stay in Cyprus.

Cyprus is not currently a full Schengen member. ETIAS participation and Schengen membership are separate questions.

Cyprus does not currently use EES. Border processing can therefore differ from EES-participating destinations.

Practical information

Cyprus uses the euro. ETIAS does not replace the Republic of Cyprus entry conditions or rules concerning travel across the Green Line.
