1. Do Kosovar citizens need ETIAS?

✓ Yes — once ETIAS becomes operational
  • You are travelling on an eligible Kosovo passport
  • Your trip is a short stay of up to 90 days in any 180-day period
  • You are visiting one or more of the 30 ETIAS countries
  • You are travelling for tourism, business, transit or another permitted short-stay purpose

ETIAS is a travel authorisation for visa-exempt travellers. It is not a visa and approval does not itself guarantee entry at the border.

2. Passport rules for Kosovo

Apply using the qualifying Kosovo biometric passport you will carry for the trip.

Document-specific rule

Your eligibility depends on the passport type described above. If your document does not meet that condition, do not assume ETIAS replaces a visa.

The Kosovo biometric-passport rule

  • The biometric-passport condition remains part of visa-free eligibility.
  • ETIAS is a pre-travel authorisation rather than a visa.
  • The normal 90/180-day short-stay limit continues to apply.
