1. Do Georgian citizens need ETIAS?

✓ Yes — once ETIAS becomes operational
  • You are travelling on an eligible Georgia passport
  • Your trip is a short stay of up to 90 days in any 180-day period
  • You are visiting one or more of the 30 ETIAS countries
  • You are travelling for tourism, business, transit or another permitted short-stay purpose

ETIAS is a travel authorisation for visa-exempt travellers. It is not a visa and approval does not itself guarantee entry at the border.

2. Passport rules for Georgia

Use the qualifying Georgian biometric passport for both the ETIAS application and the trip.

Document-specific rule

Your eligibility depends on the passport type described above. If your document does not meet that condition, do not assume ETIAS replaces a visa.

The Georgian biometric-passport rule

  • A qualifying biometric passport is required for the visa-free category relevant to ETIAS.
  • ETIAS does not replace a visa for a non-qualifying travel document.
  • The 90/180-day short-stay rule remains unchanged.
