1. Overview

ETIAS will apply to eligible short stays in the European Netherlands for tourism, business and other permitted travel. The authorisation is linked to the passport used in the application.

3. Arriving in Netherlands

The ETIAS requirement is linked to your eligibility and travel document. The border procedure can differ depending on how and from where you arrive.

By air

Amsterdam Schiphol is the principal international gateway, with other airports also serving European routes. External-border arrivals use the applicable ETIAS and EES processes.

By land or rail

Road and rail arrivals from Belgium and Germany normally cross internal Schengen borders. Travellers should still carry the passport linked to ETIAS.

By sea

Ferry and cruise arrivals to the European Netherlands are subject to the same traveller eligibility requirements.

4. Border and territory notes

ETIAS for the Netherlands refers to the European Netherlands. Aruba, CuraΓ§ao, Sint Maarten and the Caribbean Netherlands are outside the Schengen Area and have separate entry arrangements.

Practical information

The European Netherlands uses the euro. ETIAS does not replace separate entry checks for Caribbean parts of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
